This Bold Bordjalou contains all the features we look for in a great Kazak rug: saturated color, sumptuous mountain wool, and a super floppy handle. Would work great on the floor or as a wall piece.
Condition - Fair. High pile in some areas with lower pile in others. Heavy corrosion to the black field with old brown repiling in the field.

The well articulated field design of this classic Kuba Konagend rug distinguishes it from the pack. Notice the subtly brilliant colors offset against the readily discernible white animal forms in the field.

In this graphically appealing Kazak rug, the regularity of the field design is interrupted ever so subtly with a variation in the inner part of the bottom row of Memling Gols. A similar phenomenon occurs in the border, in which three cruciform motifs are interspersed among the main motif of octagonal, paired bird head forms.
Condition - Very good. Medium pile all around. Mostly original. Scattered areas of expert repair work. Complete.

This Shirvan prayer rug eschews the usual field filled with flowers for an unusual pattern of geometricized birds formed into lozenges.
