Mahal and Sultanabad carpet production played a pivotal role in the post 1870 commercial carpet revival of Iran. Featuring somewhat loose and rustic versions of designs drawn from the wide spectrum of Iranian weaving culture, these rugs continue to be great decorative pieces.
