Anatolian tribal and village rugs
Woven in what is modern day Turkey, rugs from this region were made by Turkic as well as Kurdish populations.
Where Iranian village weavings are playful and lovely, Anatolian weavings are profound and powerful. This aesthetic is achieved through the use of archaic motifs, an intuitive color harmony, and incredibly balanced negative/positive space interplay.
Condition - fragmented as visible. Backed and preserved. Ready for use.

A diminutive silk prayer rug depicting the architectural elements of a mosque. This piece is very unusual in that it seems to be a cottage industry product using silk. A lovely little testament to the creativity of the village weavers of Anatolia.

Early Morrocan rugs are directly inspired by Anatolian antecedents. In this piece, a rare double niche field is enclosed by a spaciously rendered tulip and rosette border most commonly seen in Ladik prayer rugs of West Anatolia. The piece contains what looks to be a date.
Condition - Somewhat challenged. Almost all original with a few tiny repairs. Heavily worn in areas.

Early Central Anatolian village rugs are known for their spectacular colors, and this piece lives up to that reputation. The happy, springtime palette of this rug is somewhat in contrast to the heavier palette that many Central Anatolian rugs have. The multi-wefted weave of this piece suggests a Cappadocian origin.
