Kurdish tribal and village rugs
The Kurdish people live in the northwestern part of Iran, northern Iraq, northern Syria and eastern Turkey. This section deals with weavings of the Kurds of Iran.
Iranian Kurdish village pieces rely heavily on outside sources for their design repertoire, ranging from simplified versions of classic designs to direct borrowings from their geographic neighbors. This design eclecticism is complemented by a singularly soft, luminous color palette.
