An early and very rare Farahan carpet. The field design echoes the design of so called ‘ salting group ‘ carpets from the Safavid era , while the border conforms to a standard 19th century west persian repertoire. The piece is backed and ready for use as a gorgeous piece of wall art.
Condition - Fair. All original. Medium pile all around with scattered tears that have all been secured. The entire piece is fully secured.
Size - 6’8” x 4’4”
Age - mid 19th century or earlier
Technical information - Wool pile. Silk warps and cotton wefts.
