28) East Anatolian Kurdish rug


Most probably a product of the Herki tribe, this Kurdish rug displays a common design of Hexagonal motifs in an unusually spacious manner. The glowing color palette as well as the weave give a strong indication that this rug was woven in what is now considered East Anatolia.

  • Condition - Good. All original. Mostly lush pile with one area of heavy wear down to the foundation.

  • Size - 6’4” x 3’7”

  • Age - 19th century

  • Technical information - Wool pile. Wool warp and wool weft. Symmetrically knotted.
